Professional Experience
Giovanna trained at Harvard University Herbaria inbetween undergrad and grad school. She was not only taught basic curatorial practices, yet was also educated on how to mount vascular plants by pofessional full-time mounter, Saima Javed, as well as took a nomenclature course by world specialist, Dr. Kanchi Gandhi. Giovanna's taxonomic background is with lichens and bryophytes, where she has participated in several flora projects around the country including New England and the Pacific NorthWest. Additionally, duing grad school Giovanna was the graduate student representative for the American Bryological and Lichenological Society while also serving on the IUCN Lichen Red List team, helping to get lichen species of concern listed. Giovanna has attended botanical conferences where she has presented her masters research, which includes Botany 2021, and the first Cliff Ecology conference hosted in Yosemite Fall 2024.
